Microsoft SQL Server to Amazon RDS for SQL Server

Now that you have completed setting up the workshop enviornment, you are ready to migrate a sample data base.

This step-by-step guide demonstrates how you can use AWS Database Migration Service (DMS) to migrate data from a Microsoft SQL Server database to another Microsoft SQL Server databse running on an Amazon RDS instance. Additionally, you will use AWS DMS to continually replicate database changes from the source database to the target database.

The environment for this lab consists of:

  • A Microsoft SQL Server running on an EC2 instance as the source database. This server is also used run Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio.
  • A Microsoft SQL Server instance running on AWS RDS as the target database.
